The Shankly Hotel

The Shankly Hotel approached us in need of a new website. Their old site was dated, had become cluttered over time and was incredibly difficult for users to navigate and find what they were looking for.

We began by re-designing the user journey which allowed us to simplify and streamline the navigation of the site with clear paths to each distinct area.

A major issue of the old site was that users couldn’t find certain areas of the site and it wasn’t clear enough that the Shankly offered more than just their famous Party Rooms. We addressed this issue by creating a large 3 way navigation for the landing page, to help direct traffic to the 3 main sectors of the Hotel’s offering.

To ensure clarity in the types of rooms The Shankly offers, we split the rooms section of the website into 2 distinct areas, Rooms & Suites for your standard rooms appealing to families, couples and business people, and Party Rooms, which The Shankly is very well-known for in Liverpool.

Mobile-first design.

The vast majority of the website’s users were viewing the site on mobile devices, this lead us to design the website to work seamlessly on mobile devices before we worked on the larger-screen versions of the site.
